Rocket – 50x300cm, Echium wildpretii, fabric, dust, Teide volcano, Tenerife, Spain 2022 When we went on our first ascent to Alto de Guajara up to 2718 meters above sea level, we noticed strange up to three-meter plants that reminded us of our dense flower mullein. We learned that it is the Echium wildpretii, which grows only on the Canary Islands at this altitude, and specifically this species called "Tower of Jewels" only on the slopes of the Pico del Teide volcano in Tenerife and nowhere else in the world. In spring, when it blooms, its upper part is deep red. When we walked past this flower, I said, hey, it looks like a launched rocket with the leaves below, only it lacks the sparkling paint and starting dust, how about we do it tomorrow? Well, that was the answer.
