Grow-Through – site specific installation, 10 x 5 x 4 m, irrigation hoses, Bajamir, Tenerife, Spain 2022. . An abandoned plastic greenhouse built by humans for growing fruits and vegetables was left to the mercy of nature, which began to slowly grow through it with its unrestrained vigor. The irrigation system that was built there to support plant growth fell into disrepair and now it takes over this basic aspect of nature, growing through this already overgrown place with no moisture in an even faster tempo to once again regain control over it. A process of growing-through overgrowing another process of growing-through. Making this installation was truly hell on earth. . The last three days, Tenerife was hit by tropical heat from Africa and the temperature rose to 35 °C without any clouds. Inside the plastic greenhouse there was no shade, so it felt like 50 degrees there plus the air was completely still, and we worked there for two whole days in a row. At times, we were almost fainting, and we had to go outside regularly to hide under a tree for at least a few moments. The installation follows up on my exhibition project Prorost (Grow-Through) presented at Muzeum umění a designu Benešov in 2019–2020, and we used several hundred meters of irrigation hoses to make it.
