The monumental wall painting is based on the construction of a Rolls-Royce engine, whose technical components are gradually transformed into an imaginary living organism. The mechanical structure remains recognizable within the painting, yet it no longer follows the logic of a machine and instead develops an anatomy of its own. The engine cylinders transform into limbs growing from a massive headless torso, within which a demonic figure appears. On closer inspection, however, even the individual parts of these limbs break down into smaller animal-like forms. The painting thus operates on several scales simultaneously. What appears from a distance to be a single organism reveals itself up close as a structure composed of further forms resembling autonomous living organisms. The original engine is not merely a model for stylization. Its structural principle becomes the basis of a fictional anatomy in which the boundary between machine and organism gradually dissolves. The mechanical construction is read as a living body, and its individual components as parts of a larger biological system.
