In Hrdlořezy, Prague, there is a stone rampart built around a hillside. The centuries have left their mark on it, it has been repaired many times and, in the centre, it is broken through by tree roots. I thought about what happened here. Could the roots have such tremendous power to break through such a strong rampart? They probably do, even though I am convinced that this did not happen entirely without human help. It is a collision of forces – natural and human. The roots show what is hidden behind the wall and what strength can they have, in contrast to how the human strife for permanence can be transient.
