The original intention was to create an ornamental mosaic in the sub-castle of the more than 400-year-old Rogan Castle using traditional prayer rugs, Arab scarves, and Omani hats. The goal was to design the individual mosaic parts based on the natural shapes of the stone, giving the impression of gradual peeling and revealing layers, similar to the natural process in stone formations. I traced the peeling layers of stone onto the prayer rugs, scarves, and hats, and used them to reinterpret the surface of the stone. Some of my installations from travels serve more as a record of the concept within very limited conditions for their realization. For this concept, the marquetry technique, embedding carpet ornaments into the stone using different colored stones, would be more suitable, turning the mosaic into a true mosaic.
