Little Thinker – homage to August Rodin, social specific installation, 160x80x60 cm, plastic, Kampung Wak Wak slum, Borneo, Malaysia 2022 From the putrid smell of human misery and futility rotting under the equator sun, a boy is born who has come to know the dirty soul of humanity down into the smallest molecule of plastic. Perhaps he’s the Chosen one that humanity has been waiting for so long. An exorcist with a red tape over his shoulder who will find the cure for this epidemic and cast it out of the human mind. And perhaps he’s only an embodiment of our waiting for the next generations that will surely find ways to solve our problems better than we can, because that’s how it’s comfortable for us. Or perhaps we’re putting too much hope in him and he’s just thinking about football. He's just a child. The installation was created in cooperation with the people living in the Kampung Wak Wak slum. I gave the sculpture to the village as a Christmas present.
