Reform works with objects associated with the everyday rituals of home—dining, coffee, tea, and baking. Here, however, porcelain cups, traditional Blue Onion china, and a Bundt cake mould lose their original form. They are broken, and their fragments become the basis for new objects. The fragments of the cups are reassembled and combined with the substances they originally contained. Coffee, tea, and sugar cease to be their contents and instead become part of their new material form. The Bundt cake mould is broken in a similar way. Its fragments are reassembled, and the resulting irregular mould determines the shape of a newly baked cake. The installation understands tradition not as an immutable form that must be preserved, but as a process of continuous transmission and transformation. Some forms disappear, others break apart, and their fragments become the foundation for new ones. Here, continuity does not lie in preserving the original form, but in the possibility of creating a new one from its fragments.
