Growth

The installation is based on the geometric ornament of the original parquet floor, which is understood not merely as a decorative element, but as the ground plan for a potential spatial structure. Selected geometric configurations are conceptually lifted from the plane of the floor into the third dimension and transformed into physical volumes that gradually accumulate, branch out, and grow through the space along a vertical axis. The principle behind the work reverses the conventional relationship between ornament and sculpture. The two-dimensional pattern ceases to function as a surface and becomes the structural basis of the object. Although the resulting structure resembles the trunk and crown of a tree, its form is not derived from a natural model. Paradoxically, the organic form emerges through the systematic development of the geometric order of the architecture. The object therefore does not enter the space as an autonomous sculpture, but grows out of its already existing visual system. The floor becomes its ground plan, and the architecture becomes the place where ornament transforms into matter.
