The anamorphic portrait of Turkish businessman and collector Rahmi Koç (b. 1930) is composed almost entirely of objects from his own museum collections devoted to the history of technology, transport and industry. The concept is based on a reversed relationship between collector and portrait. Throughout his life, Rahmi Koç has collected individual objects and assembled them into an extensive historical collection. In the anamorphic installation, part of that collection is instead assembled back into an image of the man who created it. The portrait is constructed as a repository of technological memory, structured around the Koç family tree. Alongside historical exhibits, it also incorporates personal objects belonging to his relatives, friends and closest associates. The resulting likeness therefore emerges not only from artefacts representing the history of technology and industry, but also from the personal traces of people who shaped Koç’s own life.
